BMKG: Earlier This Week, A Number Of Indonesian Regions Were Still Raining

JAKARTA Rainy and cloudy weather will still color a number of areas in Indonesia earlier this week, including in several major cities. This was conveyed by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in the latest report released on Monday, June 23.

BMKG forecaster, Apdillah Akbar, said that the Sumatra area was still filled with various weather. Cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Medan, Pekanbaru, and Padang. Meanwhile, thunderstorms are expected to hit Banda Aceh, light rain in Tanjung Pinang and Bandar Lampung, as well as rain accompanied by lightning in Jambi, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang.

"On the island of Java, thick cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Semarang and Yogyakarta, running air in Surabaya, as well as light rain in Serang, Jakarta and Bandung," said Apdillah, quoted from ANTARA.

For the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, BMKG estimates that thick cloudy weather will occur in Mataram and Kupang, while light rain is predicted to fall in Denpasar.

Meanwhile, the Kalimantan region also experiences varying weather. Cloudy weather is expected to occur in Banjarmasin and Pontianak, light rain in Palangka Raya, moderate rain in Tanjung Selor, and thunderstorms in Samarinda.

In Sulawesi, Manado and Makassar are predicted to be thick cloudy. Light rain is likely to fall in Palu and Gorontalo, moderate rain in Kendari, and heavy rain in Mamuju.

The eastern Indonesia region also does not escape the rain. Light rain is predicted to occur in Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, and Jayawijaya. Rain is expected to fall in Nabire, Jayapura, and Merauke, while rain accompanied by lightning is likely to occur in Sorong.

BMKG appealed to the public to remain alert to the potential for moderate to heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in several areas.
