KPK Opportunity To Examine Governor Khofifah Regarding The East Java Provincial Government Grant Fund Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) opens the opportunity to examine the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa regarding the alleged bribery of grant funds for community groups or pokmas from the East Java Provincial Budget for the 2019-2022 Fiscal Year.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said this opportunity was open because investigators studied every information presented by witnesses. If according to need, the summons for Khofifah can be carried out.

"And investigators will see if there is a need to summon certain parties for questioning by the KPK, of course, they will summon this party," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted on Friday, June 20.

In this case, the KPK once searched Khofifah's room, Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elestianto Dardak, and several of his subordinates on December 21, 2022. A number of documents were then brought by investigators at that time.

In addition, Khofifah's name was also mentioned by former Chairman of the East Java DPRD Kusnadi after undergoing examination as a witness on Thursday, June 19. According to him, the National Awakening Party (PKB) politician was aware of grant funds and participated in discussing them in his capacity as regional head.

"Yes, the grant funds are a process, yes, this is a process, not material. Yes, it was discussed together with the regional head," Kusnadi told reporters at the location.

Meanwhile, Khofifah served as Governor of East Java for two terms, 2019-2024 and 2025-2030.

Previously reported, the KPK again investigated the alleged bribery of grant funds for community groups or pokmas from the East Java Provincial Budget for the 2019-2022 Fiscal Year. 21 suspects have been determined from the development of the case.

In the process of running, a number of locations have been searched by investigators. Among them are the house of former DPD Chairman La Nyalla Mattalitti and the East Java Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) office.

In addition, the KPK has asked the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) to prevent 21 people from leaving the country in this case. They are a case that is a state administrator or member of the East Java Provincial DPRD; AI, a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD; MAH, a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD; and AS a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD.

Also prevented by BW, JPP, HAS, SUK, AR, WK, AJ, MAS, AA, AYM, AH, RWS, MF, AM, and MM as private parties; FA as a member of the Sampang Regency DPRD; and JJ who is a state administrator or member of the Probolinggo Regency DPRD.
