CIREBON - Cirebon City Police (Polresta), West Java, revealed a case of alleged sexual abuse committed by a doctor with the initials TW (46) against health workers (nakes) at one of the auxiliary health centers in Babakan District, Cirebon.
Cirebon Police Chief Kombes Sumarni said that currently the doctor had been named a suspect.
"The incident occurred while the victim was on picket alone on December 12, 2024. The perpetrator came to the location and immediately committed sexual abuse even though the victim had tried to fight," Sumarni said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 18.
Sumarni explained that the report on this case was received and handled directly by the Cirebon Police Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) shortly after the incident.
After a series of investigations and case titles, TW is believed to have been proven to have committed these actions and is currently undergoing further legal proceedings.
The suspect was charged with Article 6 letter a and letter c of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence.
"For a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison and a fine of up to Rp. 300 million," he said.
