JAKARTA - Many people left Tehran when the Israeli attack on Iran entered its fifth day. Some are seeking refuge in the province of the Kaspia Sea, Mazandaran.

A refugee told CNN it took more than 14 hours to reach Shomal, a popular northern tourist destination that is usually only taken within three hours of travel.

"Everyone left Tehran, basically everyone I know has left the city," the resident said Tuesday, June 17.

"People in Shomal have opened their doors to people from Tehran, accepting people," he continued.

"They bombed my house, the road, I was yesterday. All the windows have turned to dust, the building lobby has disappeared," he said, recounting an Israeli attack.

With the entry of displaced residents, governor Mazandaran said bakeries will start operating 24 hours a day starting tomorrow.

"Our goal is for people to easily and without worrying about getting fresh and warm bread at any time, day or night, when they need it," said the governor, according to Mehr News Agency.

The province has the capacity to accommodate 10 million people who ' fled' from Tehran and other areas.

US President Donald Trump previously warned Iranians to "immediately evacuate" from Tehran.

In an interview at Air Force One, Trump spoke of the reasons behind his call to leave Tehran immediately. He said there was no specific threat, but it was safer for people to flee given the situation on the ground.

"I want people to be safe. There's always a possibility something can happen. I just want people to be safe," he said.
