The Porong Sidoarjo Railway Can Be Crossed Even Though It Is Flooded

SIDOARJO - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 8 Surabaya ensures that the railway line in the Porong District, Sidoarjo, East Java, which has been flooded since Tuesday morning is in a safe condition and can be passed at a limited speed.

"After field checks were carried out on Tuesday morning, the route was declared safe to be crossed at a limited speed," said KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations Manager as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 17.

He explained that currently the train can cross the area with a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour (km/hour).

Previously, the East Mutiara Train Travel Operations Control Center (Pusdal Opka) Daop 8 Surabaya received a report by the East Mutiara Railway Facilities (ASP) Crew regarding the inundation that hampered the train speed on the KM 32+4/5 rail line between Porong Station and Tanggulangin Station.

As a result of these conditions, five train trips were delayed with a total accumulated delay of 366 minutes.

The five trains are KA 453 Commuter Line Supas, KA 425 Commuter Line Penataran, KA 33 Pandalungan, KA 412 Commuter Line Dhoho, and KA 2628 Kereta Ketel Fuel Oil (BBM).

Luqman apologized to PT KAI's customers for the delay.

He emphasized that his party will continue to be committed to improving services and rapid responses to the situation on the ground, in order to maintain the smooth running and safety of train travel in related operational areas.

Floods have hit the Porong District, Sidoarjo, East Java since Monday (16/6) night. The flood occurred after the area was hit by heavy rain for three hours and caused flooding with water levels ranging from 50-70 centimeters.

From ANTARA's observation in the field until Tuesday (17/6) at 11.30 WIB at noon, the flood still inundated several points with a height of up to 50 centimeters.
