MADIUN PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area (Daop) 7 Madiun has improved the geometry of the railway line at a number of level crossings in Madiun, Magetan, and Ngawi areas. This effort was made to improve the safety and comfort of train travel.
KAI Daop 7 Public Relations Manager Madiun Rokhmad Makin Zainul said the repairs had been carried out in stages since early June 2025 and were part of the routine train line infrastructure maintenance program.
"This treatment aims to minimize the potential for travel disruption. One of them is improving the geometry and replacement of infrastructure at level crossings or JPL (Direct Crossing Channel)," said Zainul in Madiun, Antara, Sunday, July 15.
The improvements made include replacing R54-type rails, replacing wessel, updating rail pads, and adding retaliatory stones to maintain track stability and improve track elasticity.
Several crossing points that have been repaired include JPL 04 in Ngetrep Village (Madiun Regency), JPL 13 in Bayem Taman Village ( Magetan Regency), JPL 114 and JPL 111 in Madiun' Surabaya section, as well as JPL 26 and JPL 35 in Ngawi Regency.
Not only focusing on security, KAI Daop 7 Madiun also introduced environmentally friendly innovation by replacing wooden pads on steel bridges using synthetic pads.
These synthetic bills are stronger, resistant to extreme weather, and do not require felling trees. This step is in line with the company's commitment to sustainable development (SDGs)," said Zainul.
