Investigate Chromebook Corruption, Attorney General's Office Of Marathon Examines Former Staff Of Nadiem Makarim

The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has scheduled a marathon examination of three former special staff (Stafsus) from the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim related to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebooks in Mendikbudristek.

The Head of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, said that the three examinations were carried out on different days. Starting fromwa Handayani, whose statement was taken on Tuesday, June 10.

"Yes, the examination is not the same," said Harli when confirmed, Wednesday, June 11.

Then, investigators scheduled an examination of Jurist Tan today. Meanwhile, for Ibrahim Arif, his statement will be taken on Thursday, June 12.

"It is scheduled for JT today and tomorrow for IB," said Harli.

In handling the alleged corruption case, investigators searched the apartment belonging to three special staff (stafsus) from Nadiem Makarim, who at that time served as Minister of Education and Culture.

The first search was carried out in two apartment units located in South Jakarta, on May 21, 2025. The two apartments belonged totuhan Handayani (FH) and Jurist Tan (JT), respectively.

It was not clearly detailed about the evidence confiscated from the search. However, from the information obtained, investigators confiscated several documents.

Then, two days later, investigators again searched an apartment unit in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta.

Regarding this, Harli said that the apartment unit that was searched by investigators belonged to Ibrahim Arif, as a staff member as well as a technical staff from Nadiem Makarim.

"What was confiscated was in the form of electronic evidence such as cellphones and laptops," said Harli.

In this case, investigators investigated allegations of malicious conspiracy by various parties by directing a technical team to conduct technical studies related to the procurement of equipment assistance related to technology education in 2020.

"In order to be directed at the use of laptops based on the Chrome operating system (operative system)," he said.

In fact, the use of Chromebooks is not a necessity. This is because in 2019 a trial of the use of 1,000 Chromebooks by the Pustekom Kemendikbudristek and the results were ineffective.

From this experience, the technical team also recommended using specifications with the Windows operating system. However, at that time, the Ministry of Education and Culture replaced the study with a new study that recommended using Chrome system operations.

In terms of budget, Harli said that the procurement spent Rp9.982 trillion.

The nearly ten trillion funds consist of Rp3.582 trillion in education unit funds (DSP) and around Rp6.399 trillion from special allocation funds (DAK).
