No Need For Costs, Elementary And Vocational School Students In Tangerang Can Take Free School Buses

TANGERANG The Tangerang Regency Government through the Transportation Service has started operating free school buses for students at the regional elementary, junior high, and high school/vocational levels. This service is intended to facilitate access for students to schools in a safe and comfortable manner, free of charge.

"Of the four units of the fleet that we provide, each bus has a capacity of 30 people. This bus will take students to their respective school points," said Head of the Tangerang Regency Transportation Service, Achmad Taufik in Tangerang, Antara, Tuesday, July 10.

In this first stage, the new service covers the Tigaraksa 'Cikupa area, as part of the initial zoning program. The four buses will serve the 10-school route in rotation, not limited to one school per fleet.

"This can be used by all students, from elementary to vocational schools. The route is flexible and can reach several schools on one trip," he said.

Operational Hours and Routes

This free school bus operates from June to December 2025, with a distribution of three service times, namely:

1.05.00 05.30 WIB (interday morning)

2. 12.00 p.m. 15.00 p.m. local time (slow pick-up)

3. 16.00 p.m. local time (in the afternoon pick-up)

The routes that are traversed include:

- Cikupa Bizpoint Area

- Jalan Pemda Tigaraksa

- Jalan Taman Adiaksa Jalan Syech Mubarok Adiasa Santika

- SDN Seglok

- Cikupa Bizlink

According to Achmad, the initial budget disbursed for the operation of these four bus units is IDR 225 million, with a total budget target of IDR 450 million by the end of 2025. The local government targets that in the future, at least one school bus unit is available in each sub-district.

"For now, budget constraints are indeed a challenge. But in the next five years, we are trying to make free school transportation available evenly in all sub-districts," said Achmad.

He added that this program not only supports the smooth running of student learning activities, but is also part of solutions to reduce congestion and private vehicles around the school environment.
