JAKARTA - The United States estimates its trade talks with China in London will take place briefly, as both sides are believed to be able to resolve issues related to export control with just a "hand job".
Director of the White House's National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, on Monday, June 9 said the US and China met in London on Monday to discuss trade. According to a Bloomberg report, the negotiations are expected to last until Monday evening and may continue until Tuesday (10/6).
"Really, the purpose of today's meeting is to make sure that they are serious and really get a signature from (Minister of Finance Scott Bessent, Trade Minister Howard Lutnick, and Trade Representative Jamieson total), our three main trade negotiators, and settle this," Hasett told CNBC.
Washington estimates that once talks are over and trade restrictions are resolved, the two sides will return to discuss smaller matters, "said Hassett, who is also an economic adviser.
"So our hope is that soon after the shaking of hand, as soon as the shaking of hand, all export controls from the US side will be relaxed and the element of earth (frequent earth elements) will begin to be sent in large quantities," he added.
