Blong Brake Truck, 2 People Died As A Result Of A Collision At Gekbrong Cianjur

The Cianjur Police Traffic Unit, West Java, said that two people died and eight people were injured in a series of accidents on Jalan Raya Cianjur-Sukabumi, in Gekbrong District. It is suspected that the accident was caused by a water tanker truck experiencing a failed brake.

Head of Gakkum Satlantas Cianjur Police, Ipda Ika Cakra, said the truck that was suspected of having failed brakes when entering the road fell sharply in the Gekbrong area hit three cars and two motorcycles.

"The truck that was traveling was out of control, hit the vehicle in front and from the opposite direction, causing two people to die, the truck driver and the motorcyclist and eight people were injured and taken to Cianjur Hospital," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, June 9.

The truck that hit a number of vehicles just stopped after entering a four-meter-deep ditch with the driver's cabin position heavily damaged, while the driver and victim of the motorbike hanging on the side of the road were immediately taken by ambulance to Cianjur Hospital.

As of Monday evening, officers were still trying to evacuate the truck carcasses which were reported to be still hitting one victim based on reports of a truck driver who eventually died after receiving medical help at the hospital.

"We and joint officers are still trying to evacuate the truck carcass where information from the driver there is a victim who may be caught, evacuation efforts involve a number of heavy equipment and tow trucks," he said.

Information gathered, the successive accident began when the tank truck was traveling at high speed from Sukabumi to Cianjur, when it entered the corner and the road decreased sharply, the speed of the truck was getting faster because it had failed brakes.

An uncontrolled traveling truck hit a number of vehicles in front of it and from the opposite direction, the truck stopped after falling into a deep ditch with the driver's cabin position heavily damaged.

"I was in the opposite direction and saw that the speed was out of control, so I tried to avoid it, but the back of the car was hit by a truck until it was heavily damaged, the truck hit five other vehicles before entering the ditch," said an eye witness and victim of Yanyan.
