Ministry Of Culture Plans To Hold Conventions To Discuss The Sustainability Of Indonesian Music

JAKARTA - It is difficult to mention the current condition of Indonesian music is in good condition. The warmest of course is a problem with copyright, where there is friction among musicians. In addition, performances or music concerts also encounter some difficult problems.

Following up on various music issues in the country, as well as how it will last in the future, the Ministry of Culture plans to hold a convention.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Giring Ganesha said the focus group discussion (FGD) will be held in the near future to discuss the convention.

"Next week we will have FGD first. We will invite stakeholders and all communities. Hopefully, all of us will be able to come and we will sit together," said Giring when met at the Ministry of Culture, Senayan, Central Jakarta recently.

"The basis of this convention is that we have to talk about how our home is, Indonesian music, so that it becomes a better place for everything in it. be it songwriters, performers, musicians, to event organizers, promoters, publishers, and labels," he continued.

Digital platforms that have played a major role in the music industry are currently also expected to attend the convention.

"The direction from the Minister (Government -Fadli Zon) must involve Spotify and YouTube, because they are now a big music platform," said Giring. We have to involve them. We also have to listen to input from them and they must also be able to listen to input from us.

In addition, reflecting on the visit to the Cannes Film Festival in France some time ago, the Ministry of Culture also intends to hold a music market, where all parties are present to introduce their products

"Over time, the Minister had an idea, that we had never made music markets. For example yesterday when we went to Cannes, it was a film market, there were producers there, there were distributors, agents, PH (production house), all opened booths," said the former Nidji vocalist.

The goal in the music market is networking and introducing themselves. There are event organizers, sound systems, lighting rental companies, venues. Everyone must be able to present. Later there will also be a vinyl market," he added.

However, until now, the exact schedule for the convention and music market has not been determined.
