JAKARTA A sacrificial cow weighing 550 kilograms fell into a former swimming pool in the Cilandak area, South Jakarta, last Thursday night.

Head of the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Syamsul Huda, confirmed the incident. According to him, the cow was trapped in a pond with a depth of about five meters.

"It's true, there was a cow in the former swimming pool whose water level reached five meters," said Syamsul when confirmed, Friday, June 6.

He explained that the incident began when the cow's strap broke. The sacrificial animal then ran and accidentally entered the area of the former swimming pool.

"The cow ran after the rope broke and finally fell into a pool which had a depth of about five meters," said Syamsul.

Local residents who saw the incident immediately contacted the firefighters. The evacuation process was carried out by the South Jakarta Gulkarmat team.

"The evacuation is quite time-consuming because the pool depth is about five meters and the width is three meters, while the cow weighs approximately 550 kilograms," he said.

After struggling for a long time, the officers finally managed to evacuate the cow safely.
