2 Cabup Supporting Groups In Mulia Clash Again, One Person Dies

JAYAPURA - Puncak Jaya Police Chief AKBP Ahmad Fauzan said two groups of supporters of the regent candidate returned to fight in Mulia District, Puncak Jaya Regency, causing one person to die.

"The dispute between the two groups who are supporters of the candidate pair for regent and deputy regent occurred when the mass of supporters of candidate pair 01 attacked supporters of candidate pair 02 until there was an action against each other," said AKBP Ahmad as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 3.

As a result, one person from the supporters of candidate pair 01, namely Gum Enumbi, was reported to have died.

The attack until Tuesday evening left two people injured, including a student, Piki Murib.

The two groups that had clashed had previously reconciled by carrying out a traditional ceremony, which was to break "kayu Doli" in Mulia.

The peace ceremony was held on May 12 with the two pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent.

The Puncak Jaya Pilkada was followed by two pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent, namely pair number 1 Yuni Wonda Mus Kogoya and serial number 2 Miren Kogoya Mendi Wonorangga.

The pair of candidates for regent and deputy regent Yuni Wonda Mus Kogoya was declared victorious after the Constitutional Court decided not to accept the dispute over the results of the recapitulation of the 2024 Puncak Jaya Regency Election votes submitted by the candidate pair for regent and deputy regent number 2 Miren Kogoya and Mendi Wonerengga.
