JAKARTA - The UN convoy that delivered food to al-Fashir, Sudan, in North Darfur was attacked. Initial reports indicated there were casualties as a result of the attack.
"We have received information about a convoy with WFP and UNICEF trucks that were attacked last night while in Al Koma, North Darfur, awaiting approval to continue the trip to al-Fashir," a UNICEF spokesman said.
But the spokesman did not mention who was responsible for the attack on Monday, June 2 evening.
The hunger condition was previously reported in al-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur, as the two-year war has cut off supply.
