A joint team from the Sidoarjo Resort Police, Tulungagung, and the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the East Java Police shot dead two specialists in breaking into shops and cigarette distributors on the Sidoarjo Toll Road, Tuesday, June 3 in the morning.
"The action was carried out after the perpetrators tried to escape and endanger the officers during the pursuit," said Head of Sub-Directorate for Jatanras Ditreskrimum of the East Java Police AKBP Arbari in Jumhur, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 3.
Arbaridi Jumhur explained that the prosecution was the result of the development of a number of crime scenes (TKP) in the Gresik, Sidoarjo, Tulungagung, Malang, and Situbondo areas.
"Almost all areas of East Java were broken into. They are a group from Central Java that is indeed a specialist in breaking into shops and cigarette distributors," said Jumhur.
This disclosure began with information that the group of perpetrators entered East Java after previously being in Bali. The joint team then gave chase to the Malang 'Sidoarjo toll road.
On the Kejapanan toll road, the perpetrators were intercepted by PJR officers and the joint Criminal Investigation Team, but they tried to escape by hitting the officer's vehicle and traveling at high speed.
"We have given the warning, but the perpetrators still tried to run away and hit the member's car at KM 755 at the Sidoarjo exit. Because it endangers the officers, we take firm and measured action," said Jumhur.
Two perpetrators, each with the initials A and E, died in the incident. One perpetrator with the initials N was arrested and is now secured at the East Java Regional Police. Meanwhile, another perpetrator with the initials J is still at large after fleeing towards the Kahuripan settlement.
"There are a total of four perpetrators, all residents of Magelang, Central Java, with an age range of 30 to 35 years. We are still conducting sweeps around settlements to catch the perpetrators who fled," said Jumhur.
