Minister Of Culture Calls Digitization Important To Save Musician Assets

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said digitalization was important to save musicians' assets from cultural extinction in order to leave a trail for the younger generation.

"Of course the next one is digitization, indeed digitalization is the most important thing to save first," said Fadli Zon when attending the 'Harmony of the 60s' event in Jakarta, Saturday.

He said that currently the Ministry of Community Affairs is making efforts to preserve musicians' assets in the form of digitizing blacklists from 1910 to 1980s, as well as cassettes that will later be formed by Indonesian music equators.

In addition, the Ministry of Education and Culture will also maintain the intelligence property (IP) of musicians so that they can become assets that bring profits.

Furthermore, the Minister of Education and Culture said that he would help musicians create a healthy ecosystem related to royalties for Indonesian music legends by collaborating with the Ministry of Law so that there would be no misunderstanding between singers and songwriters.

"If this is regulated properly later through law and others, this will be able to create a healthy ecosystem for creation and others," said Fadli.

The Ministry of Culture together with PT Pertamina also expressed appreciation to 60 singers such as Ernie Djohan, Titezah Point, singer pair Titiek Sandhora and Muchsin Alatas and Tetty Kadi, in the form of Harmoni Zaman events to preserve the songs of the era.

This event also gave awards to the singers for their contribution to the Indonesian music industry.

"So this activity in order to appreciate is not only seen from the entertainment side. But there is also the spirit of the times, taking pictures in the timeline, voicing people's hopes at that time and music also unite diversity, differences," said Fadli Zon.
