The Man Who Extorted The Prosecutor Claimed To Be A Journalist, Made 7 News To Move Demonstrations

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) said the man with the initials LSN was arrested for extorting a prosecutor claiming to be a journalist.

"Yes, he (the suspect) admits to being a journalist, sometimes he also claims to be an NGO," said Head of the Legal Information Section (Kasi Penkum) of the DKI Jakarta Attorney General's Office, Syahron Hasibuan, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 29.

Syahron explained that the DKI Jakarta Attorney General's Intelligence Team arrested a perpetrator with the initials LSN who claimed to be a journalist and allegedly blackmailed a prosecutor in the front yard of the DKI Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday (28/5).

LSN extorted by participating in the trial and then making accusations and intimidation through WhatsApp (WA) messages.

"Then make news in the mass media and demonstration facilities, that the TH prosecutor who heard the case conspired with the Customs and Excise official by not determining a suspect to someone with the initials AJ," he said.

After about seven times writing or news in the media and twice driving a demonstration, finally LSN on May 27, 2025 contacted a structural official at the DKI Attorney General's Office with the initials AR.

"He asked for a meeting through WA which contained a conversation asking for confirmation and asking for compensation for the handling of the Customs case handled by the TH prosecutor," he said.

Furthermore, at around 11.30 WIB, LSN met with AR in front of the DKI Attorney General's Office and LSN asked for Rp5 million. After that, LSN promised not to report again regarding the handling of the Customs case handled by the TH prosecutor.

"Simultan kemudian tim intelijen Kejati DKI melakukan pengamanan terhadap LSN beserta uang Rp5 juta di dalam tas LSN yang dia akui berasal dari jaksa AR," kata Syahron.

Then after an initial examination of LSN was carried out, a cellphone containing LSN's voice recording was also found to AR.

"The voice recording contains threats and requests for money from LSN to the DKI Attorney General's Office structural official with the initials AR," said Syahron.

Furthermore, the perpetrators and evidence have been handed over by the Polda Metro Jaya to be followed up in accordance with the applicable law.
