JAKARTA - The Faculty of Law (FH) of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) formed a legal team to oversee the case of a fatal accident that killed Argo Ericho Afandhi, a faculty student, as a result of being hit by a BMW car in Sleman on Saturday (24/5).

"We are from the Faculty of Law UGM, on the orders of the Dean, accompanying the victim and the victim's family to carry out legal assistance, regarding the rights to the victim and his family. In essence, the Faculty of Law helps this process until it is finished," said Deputy Dean of FH UGM for Research, Service to the Community, and Information System Heribertus Jaka Triyana at the UGM Campus, Yogyakarta, Wednesday, May 28.

The legal team formed came from the FH UGM Consulting and Legal Aid Center (PKBH) consisting of three advocates who were tasked with accompanying the victim's family in all stages of the legal process.

In addition, the faculty also provides psychological assistance for the victim's family.

"Assistance is carried out thoroughly, including the examination of heirs who were previously carried out at the Faculty of Law at the request of the victim's mother, because of her psychological condition that has not allowed her to come to the police station," said Jaka.

According to him, the victim's family was cooperative and fully handed over the legal process to law enforcement officials. They hope that the truth can be revealed objectively.

"The point is that the family asks that the actual incident be as objective as possible, as to what kind. This is what the victim's mother hopes to find the real truth," he said.

FH UGM emphasized that there has been no decision from the family regarding the possibility of peace, but it is open to the good faith that the perpetrators may convey in the future. Currently, the focus of the family is to support the continuation of the legal process and the restoration of psychological conditions.

"It has not been decided, but what is clear is that the family received good faith from the perpetrators, so that in the future we will see after this process is running, and the psychological condition of the victim's mother has not been able to carry it out until now," he said.

Jaka also ensured that there was no form of intimidation or pressure on the victim's family. "Nothing. We confirmed earlier, there was nothing like that," said Jaka.
