Government Announces Eid Falls On Friday 6 June

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) announced that 1 Dzulhijjah 1446 Hijri/2025 AD falls on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, so that Eid al-Adha falls on Friday, June 6, 2025.

"We conclude that at the beginning of Dzulhijjah after receiving a report from the rukyatul hilal, we can conclude that on the 1st Dzulhijjah falls on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. So that 10 Dzulhijjah or Eid al-Adha coincide with Friday, June 6, 2025," said Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar at the Isbat Session in Jakarta, Tuesday, May 27, reported by ANTARA.

The decision was obtained after the results of monitoring the hilal carried out from 114 different locations in Indonesia.

The Minister of Religion said that the process of determining 1 Dzulhijjah 1446 Hijriah was tough. Even of the hundreds of hilal monitoring points, no one reported seeing the hilal according to the MABIMS criteria.

However, at the last moment it will be decided, a rukyat hilal in Aceh reports that he has seen the hilal and has been sworn in.

"When we were about to prepare for the decision, it turned out that someone witnessed the hilal in Aceh and had been sworn in," said the Minister of Religion.

Setelah ditetapkan, Menag berharap perayaan Eid al-Adha bisa dilaksanakan bersama-sama oleh seluruh umat Islam di Indonesia. Jika ada kebedaan maka diminta untuk saling menghormati.

"But if there are differences, we solve this issue with togetherness. We urge us to carry out Eid prayers, Friday, June 6, 2025," said the Minister of Religion.
