German Citizen Victims Of Beatings In Bali Denies Australian Caucasian Defendant Of Persecution

DENPASAR - A foreign citizen from Germany Christin S. Tiller denied the Denpasar Public Prosecutor's indictment, Bali, who said he had scratched the perpetrator of the persecution named Ali Shahrouk.

His attorney Yudi Pratama Putra declared Christin S. Tiller a victim in a case of abuse whose case has been included in the agenda of prosecution at the Denpasar District Court and has never stabbed the perpetrator of the persecution against him as written in the prosecutor's indictment.

Yudi Pratama explained that based on the hotel's CCTV camera footage which became one of the evidences in the case, there was no incident when his client scratched the perpetrator before being beaten by the perpetrator.

"When Samer and Christin fell into the swimming pool, the perpetrator Ali Shahrouk was already in the swimming pool and his position was close to Samer and Christin's position which fell into the swimming pool," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 26.

Therefore, the narrative of the indictment stating that his client scratched the perpetrator was not true and did not match the facts.

He said the narrative was detrimental to the victim.

Previously, the Denpasar District Attorney's Public Prosecutor charged Australian citizen Ali Shahrouk (38) with six months in prison for allegedly molesting a German tourist, Christin Steinrode Tiller.

Public Prosecutor Made Hendra Pranata Dharmaputra demanded that the defendant Ali Shahrouk be imprisoned for six months for violating Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution.

In the prosecutor's indictment, it was explained that the defendant Ali Shahrouk abused a German tourist, Christin Steinrode Tiller, because of a dispute that started with an alleged incident of encouragement against a child in the area where the swimming pool had collapsed.

Prosecutors in his indictment outlined the incident began when the victim, Christin Steinrode Tiller, and his family and friends were enjoying relaxing time at the swimming pool of The Apurva Kempinski Hotel Bali, Nusa Dua, South Kuta, Badung, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at around 13.30 WITA.

While resting in the hut near the pool with witness Tim Tiller and witness Charles Thomas Harrison, suddenly witness Karolina Kretek came and said that the victim's three-year-old child was driven by another 10--12 year-old child from a fairly high drop.

Karolina also reported that when she tried to reprimand her, she was approached by a witness named Samer Beckdache who made harsh words.

Witness Christin also went to witness Samer until the two fought.

According to the prosecutor's indictment, when witness Christin and witness Samer quarreled, the defendant Ali slapped Christin's cheek. It didn't stop there, he also hit the victim's face with his hands clenching.

The violence was witnessed by witnessten Tommy Noe, the life guard of the hotel, who immediately intervened and called security officers.

"The victim was then taken to BIMC Nusa Dua Hospital for medical treatment, while her husband reported the incident to the South Kuta Police," explained the Public Prosecutor.

The post-mortem results from the BIMC Hospital were signed by dr. Desak Ayu Nyoman Irma Wedaswari stated that Christin had bruises and swelling on his left nose and jaw. A broken nose and jaw were also found based on a CT 3D scan.

"The wound is said to be caused by blunt violence and is declared to cause infection and temporarily hinders daily activities," said the prosecutor.

For his actions, Ali Shahrouk was charged with violating Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code concerning persecution.

The case has now entered the prosecution stage and is waiting for the decision of the Denpasar District Court Judges.
