Dozens of houses in Situbondo Regency, East Java, were damaged by strong winds.

The Coordinator of the Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Situbondo Regency, Puriyono, said strong winds occurred in Melandingan Village, Melandingan District during the day.

"According to reports from residents, initially there was heavy rain and not long after that the wind was strong and damaged people's houses in Melandingan Village," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 26.

It was recorded that 14 houses were affected by strong winds, the details were lightly damaged 10 houses, 2 houses were heavily damaged and 2 houses were moderately damaged.

As a result of strong winds accompanied by heavy rains, he said, the average roof of residents' houses was scattered and even some houses collapsed.

"The houses affected by strong winds have been collected, and the BPBD members have also helped residents clean up the rubble of residents' houses, including the evacuation of fallen trees that hit residents' stalls," said Ipung, his nickname.
