JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed the reasons for causing the electronic road pricing (ERP) not to be implemented until now.

In fact, according to him, the discourse on implementing ERP has been sticking out since the leadership of several previous DKI Jakarta Governors.

According to him, ERP cannot be carried out because the connectivity of public transportation modes in Jakarta is not optimal. Meanwhile, this is necessary to support the transfer of use of public transportation from private vehicles.

"The spirit for this ERP has existed since the time of Bang Foke, Pak Jokowi, Pak Ahok, Pak Djarot, Mas Anies, Acting, and so on. But why hasn't it been implemented so far? Indeed, the support system has not been completed," said Pramono in the Sunter area, North Jakarta, Monday, May 26.

One of the ways that Pramono is now doing to increase passenger information for public transportation in Jakarta is by expanding the Transjabodetabek route.

"For Transjabodetabek, 3 new routes have been inaugurated. There will be approximately 4 other routes. Well, later after that of course we will review whether there will be additional routes," explained Pramono.

After the connectivity of public transportation in Jakarta is adequate, Pramono said that the DKI Provincial Government will draw up a new scheme regarding transportation subsidies in line with the completion of a study on the application of paid roads.

"If everything goes smoothly, so it's not certain that the ERP will definitely be carried out. Later, I won't be framing again that Jakarta will set the ERP. This is still being studied in depth," he said.

Previously, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Syafrin) Syafrin Liputo revealed the progress of the plan to implement a paid road pricing (ERP) system in Jakarta.

Syafrin said that the drafting of regulations in the form of regional regulations (perda) that regulate ERP will be completed this year, namely the Raperda on Traffic Need Management. So, after that the DKI Provincial Government can immediately draw up technical rules for its implementation.

This also responds to information circulating on TikTok social media regarding 25 roads in Jakarta that will be subject to paid rates. Syafrin stressed that there is no schedule for when a paid road will take effect.

"For the application of electronic road pricing (ERP), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensures that the policy has not been implemented," Syafrin told reporters, Wednesday, May 7.

According to Syafrin, the traffic density control system which is now implemented on 25 roads in Jakarta is odd-even. The odd system still applies in the morning and evening.

Moreover, the DKI Provincial Government is still focused on increasing public clarity and affordability in using public transportation in Jakarta.

"The focus of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is currently still on efforts to improve the facilities and infrastructure of mass public transportation, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and the Jakarta LRT, as well as the development of other transportation policies," he said.

There are a number of mass public transportation developments that are being pursued by the DKI Provincial Government, including the construction of the MRT Phase 2 (HI City ') to expand the fast transportation network in Jakarta.

Then, the construction of the Jakarta Phase 1B LRT (Velodrome Manggarai) in order to increase connectivity between transportation modes, develop Transjabodetabek services to expand the reach of public transportation to buffer areas, and provide free mass public transportation services for 15 groups of people.

"This policy is expected to reduce people's dependence on private vehicles in traveling daily," he explained.
