Polda Metro Jaya is hunting for a student who has been named a suspect in connection with a demonstration at the DKI Jakarta City Hall building which ended in chaos.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi said the fugitive was outside of the 93 students who had been arrested.

"Then, there is also one person who has been named a suspect, but is not part of the 93 who have been arrested, and currently a pursuit has been carried out," Ade told reporters, Friday, May 23.

The fugitive is said to have the initials MAA. Investigators from the Sub-Directorate of State Security (Kamneg) of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police are looking for clues to determine his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, of the 93 students who had been detained, 15 of them were also named suspects and detained. They have the initials TMC, ARP, RN, FNM, AAA, RYD, MKS, ENAH, IKBJY, MR, JU, NSC, ZFP, AH, and WPAR.

The determination of the suspect was based on evidence such as a post-mortem, flash drives containing video and incident documentation.

"So 15 of the 93 people who were arrested have been named as suspects and carried out," he said.

In this case, they were charged with multiple articles, ranging from incitement, beatings, to fighting officers.

"The 15 people suspected of committing a criminal act of inciting as regulated in Article 160 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 6 years. Then the alleged criminal act of beatings, as stipulated in Article 170 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 5 years," said Ade.

"Then the alleged criminal act against officers, as regulated in Articles 212, 216, and 218 of the Criminal Code with a criminal threat of 1 year until some 4 months. Then also suspected of committing a criminal act of persecution, as regulated in Article 351 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 2 years," he continued.

As for the rest, it is said that they have been investigated further. Investigators decided to repatriate them because no criminal elements were found.

"78 other people have been allowed to go home, have been sent home, and handed over to their families," said Ade.
