Palembang Odmil Submits Files Of 2 TNI Suspects Shooting To Death 3 Police In Lampung

JAKARTA - Military Oditurat/TNI (Odmil) I-05 Palembang handed over the case files of two suspects from TNI who were suspected of shooting three police officers while raiding the location of the cockfighting gambling in Way Kanan, Lampung to the Military Court I-04 Palembang.

The case file was handed over directly by Marine Colonel (H) Mochamad Muchlis and received by the Head of the Palembang Military Court I-04 Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto, at the Palembang Military Court I-04, Friday.

Head of Military Oditurat I-05 Palembang Marine Colonel (H) Mochamad Muchlis said that after carrying out research and processing of the case file, his party immediately handed over the file to the Military Court I-04 Palembang to hold a trial.

"After conducting research and processing the file, we issued a Case Submission Decree (Skeppera). We handed over the case files and the charges of the two suspects," he said.

He explained that the two suspects, Kopda Basarsyah and Peltu Yohanes Lubis, were still being detained by the Military Police Detachment (Denpom) II/4 Palembang.

The articles charged against Kopda Basarsyah are Primary 340 of the Criminal Code concerning premeditated murder, Subsidiary Article 338 concerning murder, Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 concerning possession of firearms and sharp weapons illegally, as well as Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning gambling crimes.

For the article against Peltu Yohanes Lubis, it is Article 303 of the Criminal Code concerning gambling crimes. "The number of expert witnesses in the Kopda Basarsyah case is 31 from the community and the police, meanwhile, for the expert witness in the Peltu Yohanes Lubis case, 10 people came from the community and the police," said Muchlis.

Head of the Palembang Military Court I-04 Colonel Chk Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto said his party would briefly study the case file, whether it was included in the authority of the Palembang Military Court I-04.

"If it includes the authority of the Military Court I-04 Palembang, we will determine and appoint a panel of judges within two days of the file being received," he said.

He explained that the panel of judges would obtain the file and study and research more deeply, including the statements of the witnesses in the case.

"After that, the presiding judge will determine the day of the trial. The estimated trial starts 10 working days after the case files are transferred, and one week earlier we asked Odmil to summon witnesses and suspects," he explained.

Fredy said the initial trial of the case is expected to begin on June 11, 2025.

"I estimate for the first trial with the reading of the indictment of this case on June 11, 2025," he said.

The attorney for the victim's family, Putri, hopes that the trial of the case will get the fairest verdict and justice.

"Hopefully at the trial later we hope to get the fairest verdict and justice," he said.

Previously, the shooting case at the cockfighting gambling arena was revealed during the raid on the gambling venue on Monday, March 17, 2025. In the raid on a gambling spot in Karang Manik Village, Way Kanan Regency, Lampung, three members of the National Police were shot dead by Kopda Basar.

The three policemen who died were Adjunct Commissioner of the Anumerta Police Lusiyanto (Head of the Sector Police or Head of the Batin State Police), Adjunct Inspector of Police Dua Anumerta Petrus Apriyanto (Batin State Police Officer), and Police Brigadier Dua Anumerta M Ghalib Surya Ganta (Bintara Sat Reskrim Polres Way Kanan).
