Head of the Karanganyar Regency Health Office (Kadinkes) Purwati has been named a suspect in the alleged case of misappropriation of medical equipment procurement in 2023. He was detained after undergoing a 10-hour examination by investigators from the Karanganyar District Attorney's Office.

Purwati was placed in the Karanganyar Police Headquarters detention on Thursday night. Apart from Purwati, investigators also named another suspect, namely a functional official in the planning department of the health office, Amin.

"Two suspects were detained at the Karanganyar Police Headquarters. They previously underwent examination at the prosecutor's office," said Head of Special Investigation Unit of the Karanganyar Kejari, Hartanto, Friday, May 23.

Investigators have at least two pieces of evidence that ensnared Kadinkes Karanganyar as a suspect in the case after confiscating documents, laptops and payment receipts from the health office last week.

In this case, investigators obtained evidence of manipulation of the procurement of medical devices worth Rp. 13 billion through the e-catalog system. The suspect also colluded with the candidate who won the tender. Investigators have asked for information from dozens of witnesses.

Articles that are suspected of Articles 2, 3 and 5 of the Anti-Corruption Law with a minimum imprisonment of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years.

"The medical equipment is thousands of units with hundreds of types distributed to posyandu. Some are small in value and some are large, such as scales and measuring tools," he said.

Kabag Hukum Setda Pemkab Karanganyar, Metty Feriska Rajagukguk admitted that since a week ago he had received information from the Karanganyar District Attorney's Office that the case had upgraded its status to investigation.

"The main task of our institution in terms of criminal acts that ensnare (state officials) is only assistance but does not provide lawyers," said Metty in response to the determination of the suspect to Kadinkes Karanganyar Purwati.
