Minister Of MSMEs Asks For No Polemic Tariffs, Flexible Aplicator Options

JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Maman Abdurrahman asked all parties to prioritize dialogue and open attitudes towards the demand for tariffs for online motorcycle taxi products with applicators, including the demand for a 10 percent discount.

Maman gave an example, several applicators such as Maxim and Indrive who apply tariff cuts in the range of 10 to 13 percent, as an alternative form that driver partners can choose.

"There is no need for polemics. If there are parties who object to the scheme offered by one applicator, there are other options with more appropriate policies. Our principle is to maintain flexibility and sustainability for all parties," Maman said in his statement, Thursday, May 22.

Maman said the Ministry of MSMEs was proposing the establishment of partnership cooperatives for online motorcycle taxi partners in each applicator.

This cooperative is expected to be a forum for strengthening the collective economy for driver-partners, including in terms of procurement of work attributes such as jackets and helmets, as well as providing savings and savings services and other productive businesses.

"From the cooperative, we can encourage the business spirit of members for members. This is also in line with the idea of the Red and White Cooperative which the Government is working on," said Maman.

Maman claims the Ministry of MSMEs will continue to play an active role in creating an inclusive and adaptive partnership climate amid rapid digital economic growth.

"The Ministry of MSMEs has an interest in maintaining the stability and conduciveness of the online transportation industry, including the relationship between applicators and online motorcycle taxi drivers and MSME merchants in it," he said.

On that occasion, he emphasized the importance of the role of online transportation services in supporting digital economic activities, especially for MSME players in the food, beverage and retail sectors.

Their dependence on delivery services makes the synergy between all parties in the digital ecosystem more vital.

Our digital ecosystem should not be disturbed just because of a polemic related to tariffs. The online motorcycle taxi drivers and drivers need each other. Without one of these elements, the digital economy's turnover will not be optimal," added Maman.
