Bandung Wetan Police Chief AKP Bagus Yudo said his party had arrested four suspected pickpockets at an event which was also attended by the Deputy Governor of West Java, Erwan Setiawan.

"There were a total of four suspects who were arrested, including several witnesses and evidence," said Bagus as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 21.

To avoid the mob, the four suspected perpetrators were secured to the security post before being taken to the Bandung Wetan Police Headquarters.

"Alhamdulillah, because after all, we have seen that many people or from Bobotoh have gathered, so we took the initiative to secure the suspect," he said.

From the hands of the suspects, the police secured three cell phones that were suspected to be the result of pickpocketing. Several witnesses were also questioned at the location.

"We found a total of three cellphones, which we suspect are evidence that the results of their activities," he said.

Police are still investigating this case, including identifying the possibility of other perpetrators being involved in pickpocketing in the crowd.

Meanwhile, one of the victims, a journalist named Agung, admitted that he lost his cellphone while interviewing West Java Deputy Governor Erwan Setiawan and Bobon Santoso.

Agung lost his cellphone which was stored in the front pocket area of his pants.

"Earlier, his cellphone was stored in the front pocket. When the cellphone interview was stored, it was because the battery was low, after the interview there was no cellphone," said Agung.
