Victims Of Ex-Rector Up Harassment Talk: I Was Accused Of Ani-ani, Transferred Without Knowing What The Problem Is

JAKARTA - "I'm not making it up, I'm said to be a woman who is not right, anis (saves). I'm in the right situation, I'm not making it up," said RZ, one of the victims of alleged sexual harassment by the former Chancellor of Pancasila University (UP) with the initials ETH.

RZ conveyed this confession in an audience with the Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer and Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Veronica Tan at Pancasila University, South Jakarta, Wednesday, May 21.

RZ's voice sounded firm, but could not hide the wounds he felt. Apart from being a victim of harassment, he also admitted that he received unfair treatment from the campus, including his transfer for no apparent reason.

"Suddenly I was transferred, I don't know what I was wrong with. I was also not allowed to attend a big campus event attended by him (ETH)," RZ said as quoted by Antara.

Responding to this case, Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer emphasized that campuses must be a safe space for all, not a place for immoral practices to grow.

"This campus is not a perverted market. Even in a market like that, I believe it has ethics and attitude," said Noel, Immanuel's nickname, in front of the management of the Pancasila University Education Foundation (YPPUP).

He considered this incident as something very concerning and urged the campus to be firm and active as a reporter for cases of sexual harassment.

"If Pancasila University has a commitment, today they should be the reporters. Because this is happening on campus. Don't be silent," said Noel.

Noel also highlighted how the victim was not only abused, but also structurally depressed. He hopes that this audience will become a bridge for concrete solutions.

"The victim has been abused, then eliminated from the work structure. This means that he experienced two times of suffering. We want to find the best solution, don't let the victim be alone," he said.

Previously, Immanuel had stated his commitment to overseeing cases of alleged harassment by ETH. He ensured that the Ministry of Manpower would be actively involved in assisting the legal process and the recovery of victims.

"I from the Ministry of Manpower will make maximum efforts in resolving cases of sexual harassment against women," he said.
