DPR Urges Strict Supervision Of Social Media After The Dismantling Of The Bloody Fantasy Group

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Abdullah highlighted the quick steps taken by the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) who arrested six suspected perpetrators of spreading pornographic content inses on Facebook social media groups with the names "Blood Fantasi" and Suka Duka. According to him, this arrest had a big impact, one of which was to stop the normalization of irregularities early.

Abdullah assessed that if the group on Facebook, which has tens of thousands of followers, continues to be left for too long, its members will normalize pornography and sexual violence against children and women.

"When that normalization occurs, the members of the Facebook Group will continue to erode their morale and not be afraid of being judged for their moral and legal actions," Abdullah said, Tuesday, May 21.

"The reason is because they or the perpetrators feel legitimized from the support of the group members," he continued.

Abdullah also provided support for the performance of the police who have succeeded in arresting several perpetrators involved in the two Facebook Group cases in a relatively fast time.

"The rapid arrest of the perpetrators by the police is important to minimize the impact of damage that can be even wider in the community," said the PKB legislator from the Central Java VI electoral district.

It is known that the Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri together with the Ditsiber Polda Metro Jaya managed to arrest six perpetrators related to the Facebook Group Blood Fantation' and Satika Duka. Based on police information, the six perpetrators acted as group admins and active members who had uploaded photos and videos of women and minors.

The six perpetrators were arrested at different locations in several places in Java and Sumatra. During the arrest, the police secured various evidences including computers, cellphones, sim cards, video documents and photos, as well as other evidence.

In addition to stopping the normalization of irregularities, Abdullah said that the arrests of the six perpetrators also intensified alarms or warnings to protect vulnerable groups, namely children and women who were victims.

This means, Abdullah said, the police are also sending a signal to all members of a similar Facebook group that the perpetrators of sexual crimes will continue to be hunted down and dealt with firmly.

"This will certainly narrow the space for players or members of the online community of the existing recess group," said the man who is familiarly called Abduh.

"And this will also provide space for those of us who fight the perpetrators to provide protection and recovery to the victims," added the member of the House Law Enforcement Commission.

Abduh is also of the view that other motives and potential criminal acts studied by the police can contribute to the strategy of the apparatus to preventing incidents like this. Including, by Komnas Perempuan and Komnas Anak as well as other relevant ministries/agencies.

"The results of an investigation by the police regarding this inses group case can later become input to take precautions and supervision that protect vulnerable groups, namely children and women on social media," said Abduh.

"This can also be a capital to regulate coordination, model and technical supervision between stakeholders, starting from the police, Kemenkomdigi, BSSN, social media platforms and other agencies," he continued.

Therefore, Abduh fully supports the police's steps to thoroughly investigate this case. Do not let a similar group still threaten the life of the nation's future.

"Arrest all perpetrators, give strict sanctions after the applicable regulations and reveal the case transparently to all levels of society," concluded Abduh.
