Retired TNI Wife Surprised Her Husband Was Involved In Drugs: "I Ordered Him To Be An Ojol Driver To Buy Cigarettes"

JAKARTA YS, a retired member of the Indonesian Army by the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BNN RI), surprised the family. YS was arrested for being caught storing 25 kilograms of methamphetamine worth around Rp. 50 billion in his house in the Tanah Tinggi area, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, Tuesday night, May 20, 2025.

According to his wife, Meryana, after retiring from the TNI, YS had time to rest for one year before finally working as an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) to meet his daily needs.

"It's been a joke since he retired, but he's been on the ground (rest) for a year here. He's a retired TNI AD," Meryana told reporters at the location.

Meryana admitted that she did not know that her husband was involved in a drug trafficking network.

"I don't know, sir. If I know, when I'm silent. I'm not a crazy person," he said in a sad tone.

She also shared that since retiring, YS has often stayed up late and sat in front of the house, until she advised her husband to return to work.

"I said, instead of staying up late, it's not clear, it's better to go for a ride to buy cigarettes. That's what I said," he said.

Although YS receives a pension every month, according to Meryana, most of the funds are spent on paying the bank loan used as business capital. Their homes also double as grocery stalls, but the available merchandise is very limited.

"I used the pension money to pay off loans at BRI, make trading capital too," he said.

After learning that her husband was arrested by BNN, Meryana admitted that she could only surrender even though she admitted that she was very surprised by the incident.

"Yes, I'm surprised, that's it. But what can I do? Crying is also useless, sir," he said.

As previously known, the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency raided YS's house in Johar Baru and confiscated evidence in the form of 25 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. The head of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency, Komjen Pol Martinus Hukom, stated that the value of the illicit goods was estimated at IDR 50 billion.

Earlier it was calculated, approximately 25 kilograms. If the one kilogram market is around Rp. 2.5 billion. So the total value is around Rp. 50 billion, "explained Komjen Marthinus to reporters.

BNN is still investigating this case, including the possibility of a cross-regional narcotics network involving YS and his colleagues.
