BEKASI - The Ministry of Environment (LH) has sealed two companies processing hazardous and toxic waste (B3) in the Bekasi Regency, West Java, to follow up on the findings of the supervisory team in the field.
"We have sealed two companies, namely PT HDN and PT HTI. Regarding the alleged violation of B3 waste management," said Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Environment, Inspector General Rizal Irawan, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 19.
He stated that PT HDN was suspected of having violated the provisions related to environmental approval and technical approval in the management sector for B3 waste collection activities.
PT HDN is suspected of violating Article 11 paragraph (2) of Government Regulation number 22 of 2021 concerning the implementation of environmental protection and management.
The regulation in question states that the business plan and or activity as referred to in Article 10 paragraph (1) letter g must have a detailed RKL-RPL based on regional environmental approval in accordance with the provisions of the legislation.
"PT HDN carries out activities in the form of transporting and collecting B3 waste that is not listed in the scope of environmental documents in the Central Cikarang Industrial Park area," he said.
PT HDN is also known to carry out B3 waste collection activities in Karawang Regency so that it exceeds the scope of the area scale provided in technical approval in the field of B3 waste management.
"Meanwhile, the B3 waste collection activity he owns is only for the Bekasi Regency scale," he said.
The alleged violation of the second company, namely PT HTI, does not have documents for environmental management efforts and environmental monitoring efforts (UKL/UPL) as well as approval of the suitability of space utilization activities or PKKPR.
"These two documents are requirements that must be met by companies before their activities, according to government regulations article 5 number 5 of 2021 concerning the implementation of risk-based business licensing," he said.
