TULUNG AGUNG - Two public schools in Tulungagung Regency, East Java, who were affected by the flood, were forced to apply an online learning method, so that teaching and learning activities between students and teachers continued to run normally.

"Yes, the solution must be because the condition of the school is submerged in water and access to the school is also inundated quite deeply," said Tulungagung District Education Office Head Puspita Rahadi in Tulungagung, Saturday.

The two schools in question are SDN Besole in Besuki District and SMPN 3 Tulungagung.

"The geographical condition of the two schools that are lower than the road has made it easy for water to inundate the school area when it rains heavily," continued Puspita.

According to Puspita, short-term handling is carried out through backfilling in affected areas to minimize inundation when it rains.

SMPN 3 Tulungagung, which is located in urban areas, is said to have become a flood subscription. Usually the water recedes quickly, but the high rainfall in the last few days has made the inundation last longer.

Meanwhile, conditions at SDN Besole were considered more severe due to flash floods from the Tanggagunan sub-district carrying mud entering classrooms and offices.

"For the time being, all teaching and learning activities in the two schools have been carried out online since Wednesday (14/5)," explained Puspita.

His party is still monitoring weather developments before deciding when face-to-face learning activities can be carried out again.

"We hope that the weather will improve soon so that educational activities in the two schools can return to normal," he concluded.
