JAKARTA - The Saudi Arabian Royal Commission for the City of Mecca and the Holy Places announced its readiness for the 1446 H Hajj season through a series of high-quality projects and initiatives, which focus on the central region and holy places.

The commission said development strategies this year include infrastructure improvements, transportation systems, as well as field and health services, quoted from Gulf News May 16.

In the central region, pedestrian neighborhoods have been upgraded with widened sidewalks and shady footpaths, and prayer places have been set to increase people's flow and distribute crowds effectively.

Regarding transportation, the Public Transportation Center, under the Royal Commission and responsible for overseeing transportation during the hajj, has implemented its operational plans for the Hajj season. This includes operating the "Moses of Mecca" system, which is designed to meet the hajj season demand.

From 15 Dzulqaidah to 30 Dzulhijjah, 400 buses will operate on 12 routes, including 431 bus stops and four central stations.

This plan aims to increase operational efficiency in dense routes through coordination with General Transport Syndicate and related authorities.

High-capacity locations have been allocated for the Island taxi' service, and service operations will be managed through contracts with service providers to ensure smooth and reliable transportation during the Hajj season.

As part of improving service quality and ensuring comfort and security for the congregation, construction work in Muzdalifah includes a special pedestrian path covering an area of 170,000 square meters with a rubber floor, along with the planting of 10,000 trees to reduce heat pressure and provide shade along the track.

Meanwhile, the construction of the field in Mina includes the construction of hospitals with 200 beds, as well as 71 emergency centers located strategically along the route to provide first aid and logistical support.

Rest areas with shady seats and 400 newly operational water conditioning have been installed to ensure constant access to water throughout the Hajj season.

To increase capacity, two-story tent units were built to improve housing services, and multi-storey toilets were built, expand pilgrim camps and increase the distribution of space within holy places.

As part of the innovative initiative, the "electric scooter" service, introduced last year, will continue to be available, with three special routes to support light transportation options and facilitate the movement of pilgrims during their rituals.

In addition, the Royal Commission launched its media campaign for the 1446 H Hajj season, which aims to showcase this project and initiative, by offering documented content that follows various stages of the hajj.
