JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto summoned Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto to the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, to discuss superior human resources for industrialization needs.
"From universities to be ready to support policies, especially industrialization," Brian said in a statement to reporters after a meeting with President Prabowo.
Brian emphasized the importance of the role of engineers and researchers on campuses to conduct research and produce the superior human resources (HR) needed. These needs cover various industrialization sectors, ranging from smelting to food.
When asked whether there was anything special to discuss with President Prabowo, Brian said the meeting only discussed general matters.
"There is nothing special, only general, thank you," he said.
Apart from Brian, Prabowo also summoned the President Director of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa, but Sigit was reluctant to reveal the contents of the meeting with the President.
In mid-March 2025, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) signed a memorandum of understanding with PT Pindad as an effort to spur downstreaming and strengthen synergy between the academic and industrial worlds.
"As stated in the Astacita of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, we need to encourage self-sufficiency in various sectors, including food, energy, and health, through research-based innovation," Brian said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/3).
