JAKARTA - The Main Expert of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Adita Irawati, stated that empowering assisted residents is a tangible manifestation of the positive impact of the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).

This was conveyed after a working visit to the Sukamiskin Class I Prison, Bandung, West Java, which had implemented a training and certification system for inmates to be directly involved in the program.

"President Prabowo Subianto's directive is very clear, namely that the MBG Program must provide the widest possible benefits to the community, including the inmates," he said through PCO as reported by ANTARA, Friday, May 16.

At Sukamiskin Prison, training is provided according to the standards of the National Nutrition Agency, and prison cooperatives are also empowered as vendors providing raw materials to support the program.

The Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) or MBG kitchen at that location is one of the kitchens that empowers the community, namely the inmates. They are specially trained and certified so that they are fit to work in the MBG kitchen.

The establishment of the MBG kitchen in the Sukamiskin Class I Prison received a good response from the inmates. Positive activities in the prison environment increased and provided new experiences and expertise for the inmates.

"Now my days are getting over faster, because I'm busy in the kitchen, preparing food for the MBG Program," said one of the inmates, Rijatono Lakka.

Tono, his nickname, has a restaurant business and is an expert in mixing food. No wonder SPPG entrusted Tono to be a cook.

"I am very happy to be able to contribute to the success of President Prabowo's program with full responsibility. From this activity, the inmates have expertise," he said.

Tono is not alone. There are about 47 other assisted residents who are also involved in managing the MBG kitchen to serve 3,450 beneficiaries every day.

From starting to receive raw materials, checking quality, cleaning, cooking, packing food, to washing cooking and eating utensils.

Firsa and Dimas, other inmates, said they were proud to be involved in the MBG kitchen. Firsa got the task of cooking raw materials that contain protein. Meanwhile, Dimas is a rice cook or other carbohydrates.

"So we got knowledge, experience, and new friends. So I know that maintaining nutrition is very important. I am proud because this includes serving the President," said Firsa.
