JAKARTA - President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized US President Donald Trump's comments about his country, saying Iran would not "submit to any evil".
The criticism was delivered in response to President Trump's comments about Iran as he began his visit to the Gulf Area on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia.
"He (Trump) thought he could come here, shout slogans, and scare us. For us, martyrdom is much sweeter than dying in bed. You come to scare us? We will not bow to anyition," President Pezeshkian said in comments live on state TV.
Earlier, President Trump while in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday called Iran the "most destructive force" in the Middle East, in stark contrast to what he called Saudi Arabia's "constructive vision".
He warned the US would never allow it to acquire nuclear weapons, saying it was willing to make a deal with Tehran, but if its leaders changed course.
"I want to make a deal with Iran," he said.
"But if the Iranian leaders reject this peace treaty. We have no choice but to give maximum pressure," he added.
