Alexander Marwata Challenges The Leadership Of The KPK Era Setyo Budiyanto To The Allegation Of Rintangi Investigation

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata invited Setyo Budiyanto and the head of the anti-corruption commission for the period 2024-2029 to investigate accusations of obstructing the investigation into the bribery case of Harun Masiku.

This was conveyed when he was asked about the statement by investigator Rossa Purbo Bekti as a witness in the trial of the interim investigation and bribery case (PAW) with the defendant Hasto Kristiyanto on Friday, May 9.

Alexander is ready if he has to be investigated because he did not name the PDIP Secretary General as a suspect in the case forum or title after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out in 2020.

"I am no longer a leader. The follow-up is with the current leadership, if the previous four leaders' decisions are considered to hinder the investigation, please process them," Alexander said as quoted on Wednesday, May 14.

Even so, Alexander asked the leadership to explain to the public about the process of determining the suspect. "Does every case that is exposed must be approved by the leadership. If the leadership does not agree, it can be called obstructing investigations," he said.

Likewise with the collegial collective principle, Alexander said, the current leadership must also explain if they want to examine him and the leaders for the 2019-2024 period. "Ask also who has the authority to determine the suspect investigator or leader," said the former adhoc judge.

Meanwhile, Rossa stated that the KPK leadership for the 2019-2024 period intervened the investigation because it did not name Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in the Harun Masiku case. This information was conveyed by Hasto's attorney, Maqdir Ismail when reading the investigation report (BAP) of the investigator at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

"The challenges include the authority of Nawawi Pomolango, Nurul Ghufron, Alexander Marwata, and Lili Pintauli Siregar as KPK leaders when exposure hinders and thwarts Hasto Kristiyanto from becoming suspects," said Maqdir reading Rossa's BAP.

"Have they ever checked it?" asked Maqdir later.

Receiving the statement, Rossa explained that the exposure or title of the case resulting from the PAW bribery operation (OTT) that ensnared Harun Masiku, et al, was carried out on January 8, 2020. This incident was recorded which was then recorded by investigators.

In the recording, the KPK leaders at that time, namely Nawawi Pomolango, Nurul Ghufron, Alexander Marwata, and Lili Pintauli who were KPK leaders for the 2019-2024 period, did not agree that Hasto was named a suspect. Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri, who served as Chairman of the KPK, did not participate in the title of the case.

Receiving that answer, Maqdir then asked why the head of the anti-corruption commission for the period had never been examined. Meanwhile, Rossa replied that he had only investigated the alleged bribery case of Harun Masiku based on an investigation warrant (sprindik) issued in 2023.

Maqdir then Rossa explained again why the KPK leaders were not examined at that time.

"Why don't you report that there are obstacles carried out by the KPK leadership, including Firli Bahuri, as well as other KPK leaders such as Nawawi Pomolango and others, why wasn't that done?" asked Maqdir.

"We haven't called yet, the answer is there," Rossa replied.
