JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) revealed that the potential value of illegal drug spending transactions in Indonesia reaches IDR 524 trillion per year. This fantastic figure encourages BNN to strengthen resources and infrastructure in the 2025-2029 strategic plan.

"Therefore, in the 2025'2029 strategic period, BNN plans to strengthen human resources and infrastructure to be more optimal in dealing with drug problems," said BNN Main Secretary Inspector General Pol. Tantan Sulistyana, quoted by ANTARA Tuesday, May 13.

The statement was made in a meeting with the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas on Friday, May 9, in Jakarta. Tantan said the threat of drugs is now increasingly complex and worrying, both in terms of prevalence of abuse and in terms of circulation.

Through a strategy entitled "Drug Net" for Indonesia's Advanced Superior HR Towards Golden Indonesia 2045, BNN targets the creation of healthy human resources and free from drugs as the foundation of the nation's future.

This strategy includes strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration, increasing intelligence capabilities, monitoring border and coastal areas, and international cooperation. However, BNN also faces challenges in the form of limited human resources, infrastructure, and budget.

In the forum, VAT Minister Noor Marzuki's Advisor highlighted the high value of drug money circulation which far exceeds the budget requirement for the Free Nutritioning Program (MBG) which is only IDR 71 trillion by 2025.

"The state needs Rp71 trillion to prevent stunting, but the circulation of illegal drug money reaches Rp524 trillion. This is very contrasted and threatens the future of the younger generation," said Noor.

Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy also stated his commitment to support BNN as a whole, including in terms of budget, institutions, and infrastructure.

Responding to this, the Head of BNN Komjen Pol. Martinus Hukom expressed his appreciation for this support and emphasized BNN's commitment to continue working on eradicating drugs in order to create a clean and healthy Indonesia.
