JAKARTA - The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) warned on Sunday, May 11, the ongoing blockade imposed by Israel against the Gaza Strip has caused "irreversible damage" to the lives of millions of Palestinians.

"It's been more than nine weeks since Gaza has been under siege, with Israeli zionists barring all humanitarian, medical, and commercial aid from entering," UNRWA said in a statement.

"The longer this blockade lasts, the greater permanent damage it causes to countless lives," UNRWA said.

UNRWA said it had thousands of aid trucks ready to enter Gaza, and their teams on the ground were ready to increase aid distribution.

The hunger that occurs in Gaza is called UNRWA a man-made and politically motivated disaster' which is a form of absolute cruelty.

On Monday, Gaza's Ministry of Health reported the deaths of 57 children from malnutrition and associated complications, following the much-needed scarcity of therapeutic milk, especially for children with special needs.

The blockade comes after the collapse of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of prisoners between Hamas and Israel began on January 19.

Israel continued the attack on the date and completely banned the entry of aid on March 2, cutting off access to Gaza's food, medicine and humanitarian aid supplies for 2.4 million people.

On Friday, the United Nations warned that Israel was using aid as a age' to pressure Palestinians to flee the northern Gaza area to the southern region, while dismissed claims of a failure in distribution.

On May 5, Israel's Security Cabinet approved the entry of limited aid to Rafah, southern Gaza, with military escorts as part of a broader operation to remove Palestinians from the northern and central regions.

Since Israel's brutal attacks began in October 2023, more than 52,800 Palestinians have died in Gaza, most of whom are women and children.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant last November against Israeli authority leader Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense chief Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court (ICJ) over its military offensive in the region.
