JAKARTA Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak instructed all ranks of the Indonesian Army to provide security support to high prosecutors (kejati) and state prosecutors (kejati) throughout Indonesia. The instruction is contained in Telegram Letter Number ST/1192/2025 which was issued on May 6, 2025.

This order is specifically addressed to the Commanders of the Military Regional Command (Pangdam) as a form of institutional support for the existence of the structure of the Deputy Attorney General for Military Crimes (Jampidmil) within the prosecutor's office.

"This security cooperation is a synergistic step between the TNI AD and the prosecutor's office, and will be carried out formally in accordance with the existing structure," said Head of the Indonesian Army Information Service Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana when giving a statement in Jakarta, Sunday (11/5).

Wahyu added, although this security cooperation is not new, its implementation is currently more structured and formal. So far, inter-unitary relations have made it possible for a similar form of cooperation, but now it is regulated more systematically according to the leadership's orders.

In the telegram, the Indonesian Army was asked to prepare one platoon or about 30 personnel for each high prosecutor's office, as well as one team or 10 personnel for each public prosecutor's office. Nevertheless, Wahyu emphasized that the real number of personnel deployed would be adjusted to the needs in the field.

"Technically, assignments will be carried out by small groups consisting of two to three personnel, depending on the situation and security needs in each location," he explained.

This security assignment will begin in May 2025 and last indefinitely. Wahyu ensured that all elements of the Indonesian Army would carry out this task professionally and proportionally, by upholding legal principles and military ethics.

"In every task, we adhere to the rule of law that applies as the operational basis," Wahyu concluded.
