"Ukraine and all allies are ready for an unconditionally complete ceasefire on land, air, and sea for at least 30 days starting this Monday. If Russia agrees and effective monitoring is ensured, a long-lasting ceasefire and confidence-building measures could pave the way for peace negotiations," Sybiha wrote in a post that immediately caught the world's attention.
Tit for tat, the European Union (EU) expressed its support for this initiative. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also through her upload on X on the same day, affirmed EU's full support for the "proposal for a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine.

"The ball is now in Russia's hands," said Von der Leyen, quoted by ABC News.
"This must be implemented without preconditions to pave the way for meaningful peace negotiations. We are ready to maintain strong pressure on Russia and impose burdensome further sanctions in the event of a ceasefire violation," he added.
This sudden announcement certainly brings a glimmer of hope for the creation of peace, at least for a while. The proposed "full and unconditional" ceasefire shows the seriousness of Ukraine and its allies to stop hostilities and open up space for dialogue.
However, the response from the Russian side to date is not yet known. The world is now waiting anxiously for whether Moscow will welcome this helping hand and take a step forward towards de-escalation of the conflict. If Russia agrees, the implementation of a ceasefire and an effective monitoring mechanism will be key to maintaining this agreement and building momentum towards more substantial peace negotiations.
