Koja Residents Find Elderly Rotting At Home, Children Victims Experience Mental Disorders

JAKARTA - An elderly woman with the initials LD (59) was found dead in a rotting condition inside her house on Jalan Alur Laut Raya, Rawa Badak Selatan Village, Koja District, North Jakarta, on Monday night (5/5), at around 21.30 WIB.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kanit Reskrim) of the Koja Police, AKP Alex Chandra, said the victim's body was found by a resident in a swollen body and emitting an unpleasant odor. Allegedly, the victim died about three days before being found.

"The victim was found in a rotting condition and his body swelled. Initially, the victim had died for about three days," said AKP Alex, Tuesday, May 6.

The victim is known to live with his son with the initials EM (28), who is a Person with Mental Disorder (ODGJ), and a two-year-old grandson.

The discovery of the body began when a neighbor with the initials A (26) was about to buy mineral water at a shop right beside the victim's house. At that time, A heard the sound of a child crying from inside LD's house. Worried, A then asked the shop owner for the lock to make sure it was in the house.

As soon as the door opened, A found EM crying while holding her child near the door. Inside the house, A saw that the victim's body was lying on the floor.

The victim was already lifeless, his body swelled. The witness then reported the incident to the head of the RT and environmental security officers before it was finally forwarded to the police," explained Alex.

Koja Police officers who arrived at the location immediately conducted a crime scene (TKP) and examined the condition of the victim's body. From the results of the initial examination, there were no signs of violence on LD's body, even though there were injuries to the head.

The victim's body was then taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital to undergo an autopsy to determine the exact cause of his death.

"We are still waiting for the complete autopsy results from the Police Hospital to determine the cause of the victim's death as a whole," concluded Alex.
