BANDUNG - Bandung City Health Office (Dinkes) reported that 342 students of SMP Negeri 35 Bandung City experienced symptoms of food poisoning after eating Free Nutrition (MBG) on Tuesday (29/4).
Head of the Bandung City Health Office, Anhar Hadian, stated that his party immediately conducted an investigation into the school to collect food samples to find out the cause of mass poisoning.
"While the data I got yesterday afternoon there were 342 people. The homeroom teacher is still recording data, is still looking for additional information," Anhar said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 1.
Anhar ensured that all students who had symptoms were now at home and were monitoring the puskesmas.
"Alhamdulillah, no one is hospitalized. We also continue to monitor through health centers and schools," he said.
He explained the symptoms that arise include diarrhea, stomach pain, vomiting, dizziness, and fever. These symptoms appear no later than 30 minutes after eating, and a maximum of eight hours experienced by students.
"I've asked for data from hospitals and health centers. So far there have been no reports from the Borromeus Hospital, or small hospitals," he said.
As a further step, the Health Office asked the MBG distribution kitchen to the school to temporarily stop food production and undergo a thorough examination.
"We are conducting environmental health checks on the hygiene of the kitchen food and sanitation. We will also provide guidance to its employees," said Anhar.
