The Bandung City Police (Polresta) arrested a couple with the initials FP (26) and NLM (23) who were desperate to steal a motor vehicle in Arjasari District, Bandung Regency, West Java (West Java).

Pameungpeuk Police Chief AKP Asep Dedi said the motive for the theft was to get capital on the cost of marriage.

"They plan to get married using the money from the sale of stolen vehicles," Asep said in Bandung Regency, Tuesday, April 29, which was confiscated by Antara.

Asep explained that the two perpetrators were caught trying to escape the victim's motorbike in Bojongseteh Village, Lebakwangi Village, Sunday, April 27 at around 02.30 WIB.

"The victim heard the sound of his motorbike on and immediately chased the perpetrator. The victim managed to kick the perpetrator until he fell, and local residents helped arrest the two perpetrators," he said.

A number of evidences were secured by officers, namely 3 stolen motorbikes whose frame number had been deleted and the tools used in the crime were like a ring 8 key.

"We have secured the victim's vehicle and three other motorbikes that are suspected of being stolen and ready to be sold," he said.

Asep said that the two perpetrators are currently still undergoing further investigation at the Pameungpeuk Police.

The two lovers were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a weight with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
