The PLN Main Unit of the North Maluku and Maluku Region (UIW MMU) has accelerated the recovery of the electricity system in North Galela and Loloda sub-districts, North Halmahera Regency after extreme weather hit the area.
"This effort was carried out following the severe damage caused by heavy rains that hit the area in the last few days," said General Manager of PLN Main Unit for Maluku and North Maluku Region (UIW MMU) Awaat Tuhuloula in Ternate, quoted by Antara, Sunday, April 27.
He said extreme weather caused the collapse of 22 power poles and one pole was swept away by the current.
In addition, the connecting bridge between villages was also heavily damaged, resulting in road access being cut off and hampering the recovery process carried out by the Tobelo PLN Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3).
"PLN continues to make maximum efforts in accelerating the recovery of the electricity system in North Galela and Loloda sub-districts. We have instructed all ranks to move quickly to ensure that electricity supply returns to normal and support the stability of public services and community activities," said Awat.
According to reports in the field, bridge damage is one of the main obstacles in the repair process. Disconnected access makes it difficult to distribute aid and mobility between villages, as well as slow down the network repair process which can only be reached by motorbike or heavy equipment.
"Despite facing various obstacles such as bad weather and cut roads, Tobelo's PLN UP3 team remains committed to continuing the repair process. We will continue to strive so that electricity supply can recover quickly," said Awat.
Meanwhile, Tobelo's PLN UP3 Manager, Ramli Malawat, added that repairs to collapsed power poles were continuously being pursued. However, the weather conditions and disturbed road access are big challenges.

"We hope this situation improves soon so that the repair process can run faster," said Ramli.
PLN UP3 Tobelo has deployed additional personnel and equipment, as well as coordinated with local governments to take advantage of alternative routes. However, the total recovery is estimated to take longer due to field conditions that are still affected by extreme weather.
For this reason, he said, residents are advised to remain alert to the potential for bad weather in the next few days and stay away from areas prone to landslides, floods, and damaged power poles. PLN emphasized its commitment to immediately return the community's condition to normal conditions through cooperation with various parties.
