MPR Chair Asks Authorities To Solve BYD Factory Problems Disturbed By Mass Organizations: Investment Must Be Maintained

JAKARTA - Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani asked the government and authorities to resolve the problem of the BYD factory in Subang, West Java, which is being disturbed by unscrupulous community organizations (ormas). Muzani assessed that investment must be maintained properly.

"On the one hand, I think investment must be maintained not only by adequate regulations and carrying capacity. There are adequate regulations, adequate carrying capacity such as infrastructure. But there are also community social conditions that must also be conducive," said Muzani at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, quoted Friday, April 26.

"It's not enough for the community to be conducive, but it turns out that there are infrastructure problems that are damaged, thus disrupting access or transportation. Roads are damaged, the community is good but government regulations are not parallel to the investment climate," he continued.

According to Muzani, government regulations and all supporters must be adequate. Therefore, he considered, the government and related authorities must immediately resolve this issue.

"Everything must be in accordance with the investment climate. If there are one or two of these things, of course, it must be resolved immediately, including by groups of community strengths in any name," he said.

"Because investment is part of the important things that become an instrument for the economic development of the community," continued the Secretary General of the Gerindra Party.

As is known, the construction of the BYD electric car factory in Indonesia, located in Subang, West Java, was reportedly disrupted by acts of thuggery allegedly carried out by individuals under the guise of community organizations (ormas).

Responding to this, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming / BKPM stated that it would follow up on the report seriously.
