JAKARTA - Archbishop of Jakarta Cardinal Mgr. Ignatius Suharyo said, Easter 2025 is a moment to show concern and efforts to help the weak and weakened, as an indicator of devotion to God.

"If the nation's condition is not peaceful and unsatisfactory, its devotion to Allah can be doubted. Because true devotion can only be seen from the indicators. It turns out that in the history of the Gods, which has been equipped with all kinds of good things, it has been fading for a long time," said Suharyo in Jakarta, Sunday, April 20, after the Pontifical Mass on Easter Sunday quoted from Antara.

Suharyo said the Easter man was the one who let Christ rise in him. As for the signs of such a person, namely embedding Jesus who walked, went around, while doing good. There are many things that can be done as good deeds, for example by becoming a hope chipper.

He said in the year of the 2025 Yubileum, was when a broken order was sought to be restored so that the helpless could bounce back.

"Well, the Catholic Church, the Jakarta Diocese, is celebrating this year, and the theme this year is the Expectation Pilgrim. So, Catholics are required, not only to be asked, they are required to find a way so that they become pilgrims and listen to them," he said.

As an ordinary person, he said, the public is unable and has the authority to determine policies. However, good deeds must still be carried out.

He gave an example of a woman far from Kalimantan Island to Jakarta to treat her child who has cancer. His party provides a shady house to facilitate the family.

"Many friends, not only people, Catholics, but interfaith who provide things like this. A sign of joy. A source of joy," he said.

According to him, these good deeds do not need to be large. The small thing, for example obeying traffic rules is one concrete step that can be taken, because it can provide hope for a sense of security for other road users.

On that occasion, he highlighted various humanitarian issues in Indonesia today, for example criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO), online gambling, to corruption.

"The deep wounds caused by corruption are serious sins that shout to heaven. Because these wounds undermine the foundations of personal life and society, corruption makes us unable to see the future with full hope," Suharyo quoted Pope Francis as saying.

Other issues highlighted by Suharyo, such as domestic violence and between residents. Suharyo said what needed to be done was to find the root of the problem based on the responsibilities of each party.

"The government, the state is looking for the root of the problem and trying to find a way out. The business world must find the roots of all of them and be involved in seeking the common good. People, all of our citizens are also looking for a path that we must find so that we can go along while doing good," he said.
