Until Easter Sunday, 1,199 Police Personnel Guard 59 Places Of Worship In Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta City Police (Polresta) deployed 1,199 personnel to strictly guard 59 Christian places of worship in this area during the 2025 Easter celebration series.

"We have prepared 1,199 personnel to help secure the Easter celebration. In total there are 59 places of worship that we have secured, including several large churches that have a large number of congregants," said Kasihumas Polresta Yogyakarta AKP Sujarwo when confirmed in Yogyakarta, Friday, April 18, as reported by Antara.

He said security was carried out from Thursday, April 17 to Easter Sunday, April 20, by placing personnel at vital points throughout the city of Yogyakarta.

In addition to placing personnel in churches, he said, the Yogyakarta Police have also prepared other additional security measures.

"We will carry out 'screening', sterilization, and patrols to places of worship. In addition, we also form and place a complete small unit (UKL) team in strategic locations," he said.

Sujarwo said the guard against the churches was carried out for a full 24 hours during the celebration period.

The police also ensure that they will take firm action against those who try to disturb order or security during worship so that it is hoped that the Easter celebration can run smoothly, safely, and peacefully.

"The National Police as a representative of the state will be present to carry out optimal security of activities together with elements of the TNI and the City Government," said Sujarwo.
