JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will visit Russian allies this week to hold talks before the second round of Tehran's Iran-US nuclear-related negotiations.
Iran and the US held indirect talks through a mediator last week in Oman and will resume negotiations this week in dialogue over Tehran's rising nuclear program.
President Donald Trump previously threatened military action if there was no agreement.

Russia, where Araqchi will travel on a previously planned visit, supports Tehran in nuclear negotiations with the West and is the signator of the 2015 pact Trump left during his first term.
Two Iranian officials told Reuters they suspected Trump's latest approach would follow a pattern of threats followed by setbacks, similar to his handling of Greenland, Gaza, and tariffs.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Araqchi would be in Russia before the next Oman-mediated talks to be held on Saturday at an undisclosed location.
Iranian insiders close to the government told Reuters the US wanted Roma, while Iran preferred Geneva.
Talks will remain indirect, Baghaei said, given the "dominate" and threatening US approach.
On Saturday it was sensitive that each delegation had separate spaces and exchanged messages through Oman's foreign minister, Tehran said.
