Police Secure 5 Hot Air Balloons Filled With Firecrackers Falling In Ponorogo

PONOROGO - Police officers in Ponorogo Regency secured five hot air balloons that fell in a number of areas of the area, two of which carried dozens of firecrackers that had not yet exploded.

"During Operation Ketupat Semeru, we found five hot air balloons that landed in Sampung District. One of them is still hanging on firecrackers," said Sadung Police Chief AKP Agus Suprianto as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 9.

The five balloons were found in three villages, namely Karangwaluh, Kunti, and Carangrejo. Two of them are large in size, while the other three are small in size.

One of the big balloons was found in the yard of an empty house in Karangwaluh Village.

At that location, police found two stalls of firecrackers that had not exploded.

Agus suspects that the air balloons were flown from outside the Ponorogo area.

Currently, his party is still investigating the origins and perpetrators of balloon flights.

"For the time being, we are still in the process of investigating. We have secured the evidence at the Sampung Police Headquarters," he said.
